Release notes

Version-specific notes for Neatwise: Mac Cleaner are published with each release on its Mac App Store listing, alongside the version they describe. The current release is 1.1.0.

The current release

The version on the store is 1.1.0, released , and localised into English and Simplified Chinese.

Per-version notes are published with the listing itself, next to the build they describe. This page does not reproduce them: a second copy of the same fact is the copy that goes stale, and a release note describing the wrong version is worse than none.

What the shipping build rests on

  • Mac App Store sandbox. The application runs inside the sandbox with no privileged helper, and reaches a folder only after you authorise it. A grant can be reviewed or revoked at any time.
  • A privacy manifest. The app declares that it does not track you and collects no data types, matching what the published privacy policy states.
  • No external process dependency. An earlier build shelled out to a system tool that the sandbox denies; it now enumerates running applications directly, so nothing fails with a permissions error behind your back.
  • A path-safety check before removal. Critical system locations are refused outright, and items that cannot be removed are reported with the reason rather than counted as cleaned.

Verified against the application's changelog (baseline of the shipping branch) and its live store listing.

Where to find the notes for a version

The Mac App Store listing carries the "What's New" text for the current version, and the version history for earlier releases. That is the authoritative source, because it is published by the same release process that ships the build.

Above is what the shipping build rests on, because those are stable facts about a version that has shipped. The full history is not mirrored here: an exhaustive copy would drift out of step with the listing, and a release note that describes the wrong version is worse than no release note at all.

How updates are delivered

  • Updates arrive through the Mac App Store with your other application updates. There is no separate updater to run.
  • Automatic updates can be managed in System Settings, in the same place as every other application.
  • The installed version is visible in the application's about window.

Baseline entries

Changes to this knowledge base, as opposed to releases of the application.

  1. Baseline

    • Product knowledge baseline published: features, problems, guides and comparisons.
    • Version-specific release notes for the application itself are published on its Mac App Store listing and are not duplicated here.

How the guides are versioned

The guides on this site are not versioned like software. Each one carries a "Last updated" date in its product information block, and when macOS changes, the affected guide is revised in place and that date moves.

The URL never changes. That is deliberate: a guide that answers "how to free up storage on Mac" should keep answering that question at the same address, rather than accumulating a new URL every time macOS is released.
